06/11/2010 - Day 119

Happy Birthday Jack!

05/11/2010 - Day 118

Remember, remember............actually, what are we remembering?  Is it just me that thinks Bonfire night has been brushed aside for Halloween now?  I have to admit we are guilty.  When I was young, I had never heard of 'trick or treat'.  It was a damp night, with a bonfire, and a few fireworks that never quite lived up to expectations!  But now we carve our pumpkins and get ready for the steady stream of children coming to our home, dressed in various costumes, all in the hope of receiving a treat.  And bonfire night?  Alfie had to resort to sitting on his stool, by our back door, watching the pretty colours of fireworks going off somewhere in the neighbourhood.........

04/11/2010 - Day 117

Today we said our goodbyes to Grandad.  It was a beautiful service, very personal, incoporating songs that reminded us of him.  I read a reading written by my brother Phil, and my Sister Elizabeth read a beautiful poem.  And yet life goes on, as this photo shows.  We said goodbye to the eldest member of our family, but here is our youngest member, who also happens to be Grandads namesake - Farran George.  Grandad loved children, and would have enjoyed our gathering, three generations of his children all in the same room.  Grandads memory will live on in each of us.

03/11/2010 - Day 116

Roses.  They always remind me of my Grandad.  As a little girl I would spend hours in his garden with him while he pruned and tidied his roses.  So it seemed only fitting to choose roses for his funeral, which will take place tomorrow.  My friend Lisa has made a beautiful arrangement, shown here.
